16-19 Tuition funding
The Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) will provide schools with additional funding for one year during 2020-21 to support learners to catch up and close any gaps that may have occurred as a consequence of Covid-19. This one-off funding provided to schools on a per student basis should ‘mitigate disruption to learning’ as a result of the pandemic and should enable schools to provide ‘small group tuition for 16-19 students in English, Maths and other courses where learning has been disrupted’.
In accordance with the guidelines set out by the ESFA, Burntwood School is specifically targeting students who did not achieve a grade 5 in either English or Maths GCSE in addition to prioritising those students who did not achieve a grade 4 in these core subjects. Schools will be allocated with £150 per student who did not achieve a grade 4 in either English and/or Maths based on the numbers in their current 2020/21 academic year allocation. For Burntwood School, this funding amounts to £9273.
